Inver Grove Heights Chiropractor, Dr. Gina Rivas CastroDr. Gina Rivas-Castro

Seeing the Tremendous Impact of Healing Hands

I was first exposed to chiropractic at a young age and knew I was destined to become a chiropractor ever since. My father had an injury and explored all the usual medical options like physical therapy, medications, and spinal injections. Finally, the doctors recommended surgery. Instead of resorting to such a drastic choice, he decided to follow the recommendation of a friend and visited a chiropractor.

I watched his health change dramatically with the touch of the chiropractor’s hands. That made a big impression on me.

Gaining Invaluable Health Knowledge

Dr. Gina is originally from Texas but moved to the Midwest where she instantly fell in love with the people and culture. She completed a Bachelor of Science at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, then moved on to Northwestern Health Sciences University. She graduated with her Doctor of Chiropractic in 2007. “Moving to the Midwest made a positive change in my life. I knew I wanted to stay here after graduation.”

While in school, Dr. Gina was blessed by having her first child three weeks before completing her studies. This experience led her to want to focus and specialize in families and pediatrics. She has taken additional training to gain a wellness certification and is in the process of attaining a pediatric certification through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.

Dr. Gina was recently invited to join The National Wellness Foundation and Epic Pediatrics where she continues training focusing on children with ADHD, Anxiety, Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, Weakened Immune Systems and Digestive disorders.

Staying Busy and Active

Dr. Gina’s family is her top priority. She has two young children, Ethan and Eliana. Seeing the expression of health that her own children have, she wants to share pediatric chiropractic with our community. She is an active person and works out often as well as eating healthy meals that enhance the body’s expression of health. She takes her role as a health care professional serious leading by example. “We cannot ask our patient’s to make different lifestyle choices that we are not willing to instill ourselves.”

As a family, they enjoy traveling to new family-friendly destinations as well as hiking, biking and playing different sports. As a Spanish speaking Latina, Dr. Gina feels it is important that her children have exposure to various cultures and parts of the world.
